Kalanchoe Desert Surprise

Desert Surprise' is a striking and unusual succulent whose scalloped grey-green leaves are beautifully banded with rich purple-maroon. Hailing from arid areas of Africa, this unusual plant is easy to grow and drought tolerant – great for gifts and beginners! Watch out for tall stems bearing sprays of hundreds of tiny purple flowers in October. Height: up to 30cm (12in). Spread: 10cm (4in).

Treat Kalanchoe humilis 'Desert Surprise' like a cactus, keeping it on the dry side with only infrequent watering, and completely dry in winter. Foliage colour is best when in direct sun.
